ลูกรัก เจ้าจักสำคัญความนี้เป็นไฉน ? (ตอนที่ ๒๔)

มหานรกขุมใหญ่สุดทั้ง ๘ ขุม เราท่านทั้งหลายได้ทำความรู้จักกันไปในเบื้องต้นแล้ว
ครานี้ลูกก็ลองมาทำความรู้จักนรกบริวารของมหาสัญชีวนรกซึ่งมีบริวารขุมที่ ๑๖ ที่ชื่อว่า ปจนนรก กันดูบ้าง
ปจนนรก หมายถึง นรกที่มีไฟนรกพุ่งออกมาจากทวารทั้ง ๕ อันได้แก่ ไฟที่พุ่งออกทางตา ไฟที่พุ่งออกจากทางหู ไฟที่พุ่งออกจากทางจมูก ไฟที่พุ่งออกจากทางปาก และไฟที่พุ่งออกจากทางรูทวาร
ภูมิลักษณะของนรกขุมที่ ๑๖ นี้มีภูมิทัศน์ที่ทุรกันดาร มีฝุ่นควันตลบอบอวลจนสัตว์ทั้งหลายมิอาจมองเห็นกันและกันได้ อาจจะเป็นเพราะความหนาแน่นแออัดของหมู่สัตว์นรกที่มากไปด้วยมิจฉาทิฐิ
และสัตว์นรกแต่ละตนมีนิสัยเป็นปกติ คือ เอาแต่เดินไปมาตลอดวันตลอดคืนมิเคยหยุดนิ่ง ไม่มีโอกาสแม้แต่จะนอน ด้วยเพราะไม่มีพื้นที่ว่างให้ล้มตัวลงนอนหรือนั่งได้เลย
อีกทั้งสัตว์นรกขุมนี้จักมีสารพัดหน้าที่เป็นสัตว์เดรัจฉาน เช่น ตัวเป็นมนุษย์หัวเป็นสุนัข ตัวเป็นมนุษย์หัวเป็นเสือ ตัวเป็นมนุษย์หัวเป็นงู ตัวเป็นมนุษย์หัวเป็นนกกระจอก ตัวเป็นมนุษย์หัวเป็นตะเข้ ตัวเป็นมนุษย์หัวเป็นเหี้ย ตัวเป็นมนุษย์หัวเป็นกิ้งก่า ตัวเป็นมนุษย์หัวเป็นหมู ตัวเป็นมนุษย์หัวเป็นวัว ตัวเป็นมนุษย์หัวเป็นควาย ตัวเป็นมนุษย์หัวเป็นม้า ตัวเป็นไก่หัวเป็นมนุษย์ ตัวเป็นมนุษย์หัวเป็นปลา และมีหัวอีกหลากหลายสารพัดสัตว์
ถามว่า ทำไมนรกขุมสุดท้ายที่เป็นบริวารของสัญชีวนรกนี้จึงมีสัตว์นรกที่รูปร่างหน้าตาวิปริตพิสดารผิดแผก แตกต่างกันเช่นนี้
อธิบายได้ว่า ด้วยเพราะในอดีตชาติของสัตว์นรกเหล่านี้ล้วนมีมิจฉาทิฐิ ความเห็นที่ผิดไปจากสัจจะความเป็นจริง ทั้งยังกระทำตนเป็นคนดื้อด้าน ดันทุรัง ไม่ฟังคำอธิบายสอนสั่งของบิดามารดา ครูอุปัชฌาย์อาจารย์ ปราชญ์ผู้รู้ ทั้งยังกระทำตนดูหมิ่น เหยียดหยาม ล้อเลียนท่านผู้รู้ด้วยพฤติกรรมความผิดชั่วบาปที่ตนทำไว้ดังกล่าวแต่ครั้งอดีต
เมื่อมีพฤติกรรมชื่นชอบทำสิ่งที่ตรงกันข้ามกับความจริงอันประเสริฐอยู่เป็นอาจิณกรรม จนสร้างความเดือดร้อน รำคาญแก่คนรอบข้าง
ครั้นถึงเวลาแตกกายตายลง จึงต้องมาเกิดในปจนนรกที่มีร่างกายวิปริตผิดแผก ทั้งยังต้องได้รับความทุกข์ทรมานด้วยการที่มีไฟกรดพุ่งออกมาจากทวารทั้ง ๕ คือ ตา หู จมูก ปาก และตูด จนกว่าร่างกายจะหมดไฟ ตายลงจนเหลือแต่กองเถ้ากระดูก
แล้วมีลมชีวกรรมพัดมาต้องกองเถ้ากระดูกนั้น จึงกลับมามีรูปร่างเป็นสารพัดสัตว์ ซึ่งจักไม่ซ้ำกันเลยในแต่ละชาติที่เกิดมาในปจนนรกขุมนี้
การณ์เช่นนี้จักสลับสับเวียนกันไปจนกว่าจักหมดกรรมชั่วผิดบาป
คาถาที่สามารถป้องกันนรกแห่งไฟในทวารทั้ง ๕ ได้ก็คือ
สัมมาทิฐิ ความเห็นตรงและถูกต้องตามความเป็นจริง
สัมมาสติ ความระลึกได้ รู้สึกตัวทั่วพร้อม
สัมมาสมาธิ ความตั้งมั่นในการงานที่ถูกต้อง
วิริยะ ความขยันหมั่นเพียรในการงานทั้งภายนอกและการงานภายใน
คุณธรรมดังกล่าวนี้จักช่วยให้ไม่ต้องมาตกอยู่ในนรกแห่งไฟกรดที่พุ่งออกมาจากทวารทั้ง ๕

We have already learned about the eight major hells.
This time, let us explore the sixteenth subsidiary hell encircling the Maha Sanjiva Hell, known as Pajana Hell.
Pajana is a hell in which hellfire erupts from the five orifices: fire bursts forth from the eyes, ears, nose, mouth, and anus. The landscape of this hell is desolate and barren. Thick dust and dense smoke fill the surroundings, making it impossible for beings to see one another. This condition arises from the overwhelming multitude of hell beings, all burdened by wrong views.
The beings in this hell are forced to walk continuously, day and night, without pause. They never have the opportunity to sit or lie down, as there is no space for rest. Their existence is marked by relentless movement and unceasing exhaustion.
Moreover, the beings of Pajana Hell possess grotesque forms. Some have human bodies with the heads of dogs, tigers, snakes, sparrows, crocodiles, lizards, pigs, cows, buffaloes, or horses. Others appear as chickens with human heads, humans with fish heads, and countless other distorted combinations of human and animal forms. These bizarre appearances reflect the degradation of their past mental states.
The reason the final subsidiary hell of the Maha Sanjiva Hell contains such horrifying beings lies in their past lives. These beings firmly held wrong views-opinions that deviated from the truth. They were stubborn and obstinate, refusing to listen to the guidance and teachings of their parents, teachers, and wise individuals. Furthermore, they insulted, ridiculed, and mocked learned people, engaging in wicked and unwholesome behavior.
Because they habitually acted in ways that contradicted the Noble Truths and caused distress and irritation to others, after death, they were reborn in Pajana Hell. There, they endure hideous and deformed bodies, and acidic fire erupts from their five orifices-the eyes, ears, nose, mouth, and anus-burning them continuously until their bodies are completely consumed, leaving behind only ashes and bones.
Subsequently, a karmic wind blows across these ashes and bones, causing the beings to be reborn again, often as various animals, with each rebirth differing from the previous one. This cycle of destruction and rebirth repeats itself until all accumulated sins and unwholesome deeds are fully exhausted.
The mantras and principles that prevent beings from falling into this hell, where fire erupts from the five orifices, are :
- Sammā Diṭṭhi (Right View) : understanding reality as it truly is;
- Sammā Sati (Right Mindfulness) : maintaining full awareness and clear consciousness;
- Sammā Samādhi (Right Concentration) : sustaining focused and wholesome mental states;
- Viriya (Diligence) : unwavering effort in both external conduct and inner cultivation.
By cultivating these qualities, beings safeguard themselves from descending into this hell of burning suffering and instead move toward liberation from all forms of misery.
