ทานเช่นไร ชื่อว่าได้ชัยชนะ

ผลของทานย่อมทำให้เกิดความอิ่มใจไม่ว่าสิ่งของที่ทำทานนั้นเป็นอะไร ยิ่งทำทานแก่ท่านผู้เป็นเนื้อนาบุญ อันมีศีล มีธรรม มีทาน มีสติ มีสมาธิ มีปัญญาด้วยแล้วยิ่งได้รับอานิสงส์มาก
เมื่อตั้งจิตอธิษฐานขอให้ได้ในสิ่งที่มุ่งหวัง ย่อมปรารถนาดังที่่พระสัมมาสัมพุทธเจ้าได้ตรัสถึงอานิสงส์ของทานในกินททสูตรไว้ดังนี้
ครั้งหนึ่งเทวดามาทูลถามพระผู้มีพระภาคเจ้าว่า
“บุคคลให้สิ่งใดชื่อว่าให้กำลัง ให้อะไรชื่อว่าให้วรรณะ ให้อะไรชื่อว่าให้ความสุข ให้อะไรชื่อว่าให้จักษุ บุคคลเช่นไรชื่อว่าให้ครบทุกสิ่งทุกอย่าง”
องค์พระผู้มีพระภาคเจ้าตรัสตอบว่า
ผู้ให้อาหาร ชื่อว่าให้กำลัง
ผู้ให้ผ้า ชื่อว่าให้วรรณะ
ผู้ให้ยานพาหนะ ชื่อว่าให้ความสุข
ผู้ให้ประทีปโคมไฟ ชื่อว่าให้จักษ
ผู้ให้ที่พักอาศัย ชื่อว่าให้ทุกสิ่งทุกอย่าง
“ผู้ให้ธรรมทาน ชื่อว่าให้อมฤตธรรม” ผู้ให้ธรรมะเป็นทานได้ชื่อว่าชนะการให้ทั้งปวง เหตุเพราะว่าเมื่อบุคคลได้ฟังธรรม ย่อมทำให้เกิดความ ศรัทธาเลื่อมใส รู้จักว่าสิ่งใดเป็นบาป สิ่งใดเป็นบุญ บุคคลจะละบาปได้ก็เพราะได้ฟังธรรมจะทำบุญถวายทานได้ก็เพราะได้ฟังธรรมถ้าไม่ได้ฟังธรรมก็จะไม่มีศรัทธาเมื่อไม่มีศรัทธาก็กลายเป็นมิจฉาทิฏฐิแม้สิ่งของสักเล็กน้อยเพียงข้าวทัพพีหนึ่งก็มิอาจจะให้ได้จะรักษาศีล 5 ศีล 8 ศีล 10 ศีล 227 หรือจะเจริญภาวนาไหว้พระสวดมนต์บูชาพระรัตนตรัยล้วนทำไม่ได้ทั้งสิ้นแต่จะทำได้ก็เพราะว่าได้ฟังธรรมเพราะฟังแล้วรู้จักบุญบาปว่าทำอย่างนี้จะได้บุญมากทำอย่างนี้จะได้มนุษย์สมบัติได้ทิพยสมบัติได้นิพพานสมบัติฉะนั้นการให้ธรรมทานจึงชื่อว่าชนะการให้ทั้งปวง

Which type of giving wins over all kinds of giving?

Whatever the given object is, giving yields contentment to the giver. Especially giving to a highly virtuous person with qualities of precepts, morality, giving, mindfulness, concentration, and wisdom shall bring about tremendous merits, and the giver shall receive any outcome they wish for.
In the Kiṁdadasutta, the Buddha mentioned the results of giving.
A deity asked the Buddha a question,
“Giving what, do you give strength?
Giving what, do you give beauty?
Giving what, do you give happiness?
Giving what, do you give vision?
And who is the giver of all?”
The Buddha replied,
“Giving food is giving strength.
Giving clothing is giving beauty.
Giving a vehicle is giving pleasant comfort.
Giving light is giving vision.
A person who gives a residence gives everything.
A person who teaches the Dharma gives the gift of freedom from death.”
Giving the Dharma by teaching or spreading via different channels is superior to all kinds of giving because after listening to the Dharma, people will have faith and know which action is sinful or meritorious. People can refrain from sinful deeds after listening to the Dharma. People can make merits, give offerings to monks, or donate money and objects after listening to the Dharma.
If they do not know about the Dharma, they have no faith. When they have no faith, they have mistaken notions. They will not share even a scoop of rice with anybody. They will not be able to adhere to the Five Precepts, the Eight Precepts, the Ten Precepts, and the 227 Precepts. They will not be able to practice meditation, pay respect to Buddha’s image, or chant a prayer to worship the Triple Gem (the Lord Buddha, the Teaching, and the Sangha).
They can do meritorious deeds because they have listened to the Dharma. After listening to the Dharma, they understand about merits and sins. They will know which deeds bring tremendous merits and lead them to prosperous life, blissful heavenly states, and Nirvana (extinction of suffering). As a result, giving the Dharma is superior to all kinds of giving.
