เห็นรัฐบาลและพวกนักการเมืองกำลังพยายามยัดเยียดความฉิบหายให้แก่ประชาชน ด้วยการเปิดบ่อนเสรี

เห็นรัฐบาลและพวกนักการเมืองกำลังพยายามยัดเยียดความฉิบหายให้แก่ประชาชน ด้วยการเปิดบ่อนเสรี แล้วอ้างว่า เพื่อกระตุ้นเศรษฐกิจ ทำให้นึกถึงคำที่พระพุทธองค์ทรงตรัสสอนแก่สิงคาลกมานพ โดยมีเนื้อหาความว่า
สิงคาลกสูตร
สมัยหนึ่ง พระผู้มีพระภาคประทับอยู่ ณ พระวิหารเวฬุวัน อันเป็นที่พระราชทานเหยื่อแก่กระแต เขตพระนครราชคฤห์ สมัยนั้น สิงคาลกคฤหบดีบุตรลุกขึ้นแต่เช้า เพื่อออกจากกรุงราชคฤห์ ไปทำกิจวัตร ณ ริมแม่น้ำ โดยมีผ้านุ่งห่มที่เปียกชุ่ม มีผมเปียกชุ่ม ประคองอัญชลี นอบน้อมทิศทั้งหลาย คือ ทิศเบื้องหน้า ทิศเบื้องขวา ทิศเบื้องหลัง ทิศเบื้องซ้ายทิศเบื้องล่าง ทิศเบื้องบน ฯ
ครั้งนั้น เวลาเช้า พระผู้มีพระภาคทรงครองอันตรวาสกแล้วทรงถือบาตรและจีวรเสด็จเข้าไปบิณฑบาตยังกรุงราชคฤห์ ได้ทอดพระเนตรเห็นสิงคาลกคฤหบดีบุตร ซึ่งลุกขึ้นแต่เช้า ออกจากกรุงราชคฤห์ มีผ้านุ่งห่มที่เปียกชุ่ม มีผมเปียกชุ่มประคองอัญชลี นอบน้อมไปยังทิศทั้งหลาย คือ ทิศเบื้องหน้า ทิศเบื้องขวา ทิศเบื้องหลัง ทิศเบื้องซ้าย ทิศเบื้องล่าง ทิศเบื้องบนอยู่
องค์พระบรมศาสดาจึงทรงตรัสถามขึ้นว่า
ดูกรคฤหบดีบุตร ท่านลุกขึ้นแต่เช้า ออกจากกรุงราชคฤห์ มีผ้าชุ่ม มีผมเปียกประคองอัญชลีนอบน้อมทิศทั้งหลาย คือ ทิศเบื้องหน้า ทิศเบื้องขวา ทิศเบื้องหลัง ทิศเบื้องซ้าย ทิศเบื้องล่าง ทิศเบื้องบนอยู่ เพราะเหตุอะไรหนอ ฯ
สิงคาลกคฤหบดีบุตรทูลว่า ข้าแต่พระองค์ผู้เจริญ บิดาของข้าพระพุทธเจ้าเมื่อใกล้จะตายได้สั่งไว้อย่างนี้ว่า ดูกรลูกเอ๋ย เจ้าพึงนอบน้อมอยู่ในทิศทั้งหลายเป็นวัตรเถิด เพื่อความเจริญ
ข้าพระพุทธเจ้าจึงมาสักการะ เคารพ นับถือ บูชาในทิศทั้งหลายตามคำของบิดา ได้ลุกขึ้นแต่เช้าออกจากกรุงราชคฤห์ โดยมีผ้าชุ่ม มีผมเปียก ประคองอัญชลี นอบน้อมทิศทั้งหลาย คือ ทิศเบื้องหน้า ทิศเบื้องขวา ทิศเบื้องหลัง ทิศเบื้องซ้าย ทิศเบื้องล่าง ทิศเบื้องบนอยู่ ฯ
องค์พระบรมศาสดาจึงทรงตรัสว่า ดูกรคฤหบดีบุตร ในวินัยของพระอริยเจ้า เขาไม่นอบน้อมทิศ ๖ กันอย่างนี้ ฯ
วิธีปฏิบัติคือ อริยสาวกไม่พึงกระทำบาปกรรมโดยอคติทั้ง ๔ คือสำหรับ ปุถุชนแล้วเมื่อมีฉันทาคติ ย่อมทำกรรมอันลามก มีโทสาคติ ย่อมทำกรรมอันลามก มีโมหาคติ ย่อมทำกรรมอันลามก มีภยาคติ ย่อมทำกรรมอันลามก ฯ
ดูกรคฤหบดีบุตร ส่วนอริยสาวกย่อมไม่มีฉันทาคติ ย่อมไม่มีโทสาคติย่อมไม่มีโมหาคติ ย่อมไม่มีภยาคติ ท่านย่อมไม่ทำกรรมอันลามกโดยเหตุแห่งโทษทั้ง ๔ เหล่านี้ พระผู้มีพระภาคผู้สุคตศาสดา ครั้นตรัสไวยากรณภาษิตนี้แล้ว จึงได้ตรัสคาถาประพันธ์ต่อไปอีกว่า
ผู้ใดประพฤติล่วงธรรม อันมีอคติทั้ง ๔ เป็นที่ตั้ง เพราะความรัก ความชัง ความกลัว ความหลง ยศของผู้นั้นย่อมเสื่อม ดุจดังดวงจันทร์ในข้างแรม
ผู้ใดไม่ประพฤติล่วงธรรมอันไม่มีอคติทั้ง ๔ เป็นที่ตั้ง ยศย่อมเจริญแก่ผู้นั้น ดุจดวงจันทร์ในข้างขึ้น ฯ
เราท่านทั้งหลาย กี่พึงสังเกตุให้เห็นว่า ต้นตอของอบายมุข เหตุแห่งความเสื่อม ความฉิบหาย ล้วนมีมาจากอคติทั้ง ๔ ดังที่พระพุทธองค์ทรงตรัสสอน

Seeing the government and politicians trying to impose disaster on people by opening free casinos and claiming that it is to stimulate the economy, reminds me of the words that the Buddha taught to Sigalaka, as follows:
Sigalaka Sutta
While the Buddha was staying at the Veluvana Monastery, the squirrels’ feeding ground, in the Rajagaha City. At that time, Sigalaka, the householder’s son, got up early and left Rajagaha City to do his daily duties by the riverside. With his clothes and hair all wet, he raised his joined palms to revere the various directions-front, right, behind, left, below, and above.
In the morning, the Buddha put on robes, took his bowl, and entered the Rajagaha City for alms. He saw Sigalaka, the householder’s son, waking up early, leaving the city with his wet clothes and hair, and revering the six directions-front, right, behind, left, below, and above.
The Buddha then asked, “Householder’s son, why did you wake up early, left the city with wet cloth and wet hair, and bowed to the front, right, behind, left, below, and above directions?”
The householder’s son, Sigalaka, replied, “My Lord, when my father was about to die, he instructed me: ‘My son, you should make it practice bowing to the directions for your prosperity. Therefore, I have come to pay homage, respect, honor, and worship the directions as my father said. I rose early in the morning and left the city with wet clothes and hair, clasping my hands together and bowing in the direction in front, the direction to the right, the direction behind, the direction to the left, the direction below, the direction above.
The Lord Buddha said, “Householder’s son, that’s not how the six directions should be revered in the practice of the Noble One.
A noble disciple should not commit sinful actions by the four biases. For ordinary people, when they have desire, they will do evil deeds. When there is anger, they will do evil deeds. When there is a delusion, they will do evil deeds. When there is fear, they will do evil deeds.
Householder’s son, noble disciples have no favoritism, no hostility, no delusion, and no cowardice. Thus, they do not commit evil deeds because of these four biases.”
Then, the Buddha continued to utter the following verses:
“Whoever acts out of love, hatred, fear, and delusion, his reputation will decline, like the moon in the waning fortnight.
Whoever does not act out of the four biases, his reputation will increase, like the moon in the waxing fortnight.”
We should notice that the origin of all vices and causes of decline and ruin all come from the four biases.
