สเจ ปุพฺเพกตเหตุ สุขทุกขํ นิคจฺฉติ
โปราณกํ กตํ ปาปํ ตเมโส มุญฺจเต อิณํ.

ถ้าประสพสุขทุกข์อยู่ จงรู้ไว้เถิดว่า นั้นเป็นเพราะบุญบาปที่ทำไว้ก่อนเป็นเหตุ บุคคลใดชื่อว่าเปลื้องบาปเก่าที่ทำไว้ได้แล้ว ดุจดังเปลื้องหนี้ได้ฉะนั้น.
