วิถีแห่งผู้กล้า (ตอนที่ ๔)

วันแรก แห่งการนอนคุก ฉันเพลียมาก น้ำท่ามิได้อาบ อีกทั้งตั้งแต่เช้าจนถึง ๓ ทุ่ม ฉันอาหารขยะคือแฮมเบอร์เกอร์ครึ่งชิ้น เจ้าใหญ่นำนมร้อนมาให้ดื่ม ๑ แก้ว ขณะอยู่ในศาล นอกนั้นมีแต่น้ำ

เมื่อเข้าถึงที่นอนจึงเพลีย ล้มตัวนอนพร้อมให้ออกซิเจนไปด้วย กำหนดจิตกราบพระ เจริญสติไปจนหลับ

ตี ๔ เศษลุกขึ้นทำภารกิจสรงน้ำ กลับมาเจริญมนต์ เจริญสติ แต่ต้องใช้สายออกซิเจนไปด้วย เพราะรู้สึกว่า สมองมันมึนงง เหมือนกับพักผ่อนไม่พอ

อาหารมื้อเช้า โจ๊กหมูนินจา ไม่แน่ใจว่าหมูที่คุกนี่คงจะหายตัวเก่งหรือไง ทำไมถึงได้มีแต่กลิ่น และเศษหมูชิ้นน้อยๆ ๒-๓ ชิ้น

แต่ก็ดีกว่าไม่มีกิน ทำไงได้ล่ะ เพราะเรือนจำได้ค่าอาหาร ๓ มื้อ ต่อวัน วันละ ๕๐ กว่าบาทเอง มีกลิ่นหมูให้ได้ดมก็ดีแล้ว

หลังฉันเช้าแล้ว ก็รอไปพบคุณหมอใจดี ที่ทุ่มเทเสียสละ รักษานักโทษภายในเรือนจำอย่างเมตตา ใส่ใจ

ทราบมาว่า แรกเริ่มคุณหมอมีคุณพ่อต้องคดีอยู่ในเรือนจำ เธอจึงอาสาเข้ามาให้การตรวจรักษานักโทษภายในเรือนจำ ทางหนึ่งเพื่อดูแลคุณพ่อของเธอ สองเป็นจิตอาสาช่วยรักษานักโทษทั่วไป ที่แต่ละวัน มีไม่ต่ำกว่า ๑๐๐ กว่าชีวิต

แต่เธอเองก็มิได้ตั้งข้อรังเกียจ หรือแสดงกิริยาก้าวร้าวต่อนักโทษที่เป็นคนไข้ของเธอเลย

มาติดคุกเที่ยวนี้ ได้เห็นความเปลี่ยนแปลงในเรื่องเครื่องไม้เครื่องมือ ที่ใช้กับการรักษา ดูทันสมัยใหม่เอี่ยม หลายอย่าง

ทราบมาว่า เครื่องมือแพทย์เหล่านี้ ล้วนได้รับพระราชทานจากพระบาทสมเด็จพระวชิรเกล้าเจ้าอยู่หัว รัชกาลที่ ๑๐ ที่ทรงมีรพระมหากรุณา พระราชทานผ่าน สมเด็จพระเจ้าลูกเธอ เจ้าฟ้าพัชรกิติยาภา นเรนทิราเทพยวดี กรมหลวงราชสาริณีสิริพัชร มหาวัชรราชธิดา มาพระราชทานให้แก่หน่วยแพทย์ของเรือนจำทั่วประเทศ

อีกทั้งในโรงพยาบาลราชทัณฑ์ พระองค์ท่านยังเสด็จตรวจเยี่ยม และทรงมีพระวินิจฉัยให้ปรับปรุงอาคารสถานที่ พร้อมเพิ่มเติมเครื่องมือแพทย์ ที่ทันสมัยหลายอย่าง ให้แก่โรงพยาบาลราชทัณฑ์

ทั้งยังทรงให้เพิ่มอัตราเจ้าหน้าที่แพทย์พยาบาลในสาขาต่างๆ ให้เพียงพอต่ออาการของผู้ป่วย ที่เป็นผู้ต้องขัง และเจ้าหน้าที่จะได้มิต้องส่งคนป่วยออกไปรักษานอกสถานที่

พระมหากรุณาธิคุณเหล่านี้ ไม่ค่อยมีใครรู้ โดยเฉพาะพวกนักโทษที่จาบจ้วงพระองค์ เวลาเจ็บป่วย ไม่สบาย ก็เข้ามาใช้เครื่องมือแพทย์ ที่พระองค์พระราชทาน หายแล้วออกไป ก็ไปจาบจ้วงพระองค์ เหมือนเดิม (บางคนที่ไร้ต่อมจิตสำนึก)…

When I came into the room, a nurse brought me an oxygen tank together with installation tools.

The first day I slept in the prison, I was very exhausted and did not take a bath. From that morning till approximately 9 p.m., I ate only junk food, namely half of a hamburger. Yai brought me a glass of warm milk while I was in the court. Other than that, I only drank water.

When I was in bed, I felt very tired. So, I laid down and inhaled oxygen at the same time. I controlled my mind to pay respect to the buddha image, practiced mindfulness, till I fell asleep.

At 4 a.m., I woke up to take a bath. Then, I prayed and practiced mindfulness. I inhaled oxygen from the tube because I felt my brain was numb as if I did not have enough rest.

My breakfast was congee with ninja pork. I was not sure if pork became easily invisible in the prison and why I could only smell and saw a few tiny bits of pork.

But it was better than having nothing to eat. What else could they do because prison received only over fifty baht per day? Smell of pork was good enough.

After having breakfast, I went to wait for a kind doctor who was devoted in providing treatment for prisoners with mercy and care.

I heard that in the beginning, the doctor’s father was imprisoned. So, she volunteered to provide treatment to prisoners. First, she could take care of her own father. Second, she volunteered to provide treatment to prisoners in general; each day there were over 100 prisoners.

But she did not have any objection or showed any aggressive behavior to prisoners who were her patients.

Being imprisoned this time, I saw a lot of changes in several medical equipment and supplies which looked brand-new.

I learned that these medical devices were given by His Majesty the King Vajiralongkorn via Princess Bajrakitiyabha Narendira Debyavati, for distributing to medical units of prisons nationwide.

In addition, the King also visited prison hospital and thought that the facilities should be improved. Therefore, several modern medical devices were donated to prison hospitals.

The King also added more positions of doctors and nurses of different specializations so that it would be sufficient for ill prisoners. And the prisons would not have to send patients for treatment outside.

Hardly anybody was aware of these benevolences of the King. Especially prisoners who had defamed the King, they were sick and used these medical devices given by the King. After getting released, they continue to defame the King (people who do not have moral consciousness).
