นางสงกรานต์ปีนี้ทรงนามว่า รากษสเทวี ทรงพาหุรัดทัดดอกบัวหลวง นุ่งห่มด้วยอาภรณ์ประดับแก้วโมรา กลืนกินโลหิตเป็นอาหาร พระหัตถ์ขวาทรงตรีศูล พระหัตถ์ซ้ายทรงธนู ทรงยืนประทับอยู่เหนือเทพวราหะ (หมู) เป็นพาหนะ
– นางสงกรานต์ นามว่า “รากษสเทวี”
โหนหวยทำนายว่า ด้วยจริตอุปนิสัยของนางรากษสเทวี เป็นผู้มีจิตใจเร่าร้อน รุนแรง ชมชอบที่จักใช้อำนาจข่มขู่ คุกคามผู้อ่อนด้อย
เช่นนี้จึงทำให้สงกรานต์ปีนี้ทั่วทุกหย่อมหญ้าจะมีแต่ความคิดที่จะเอาชนะ ระรานต่อกันและกัน ผู้ใหญ่จักข่มเหงผู้น้อย ผู้มีอำนาจจะใช้อำนาจสนองความทะยานอยากของตน ผู้น้อยจักพยายามเอาชนะผู้ใหญ่ด้วยมิจฉาทิฐิ เลือกใช้วิถีทางที่ผิดๆ มาเอาชนะผู้ใหญ่ ผู้มีอำนาจ
ทั่วโลกจะเกิดความแตกแยก ขัดแย้งเอาเปรียบซึ่งกันและกัน
– นางสงกรานต์นุ่งห่มผ้าที่ถักทอด้วยเส้นใยดอกโกมุท มีลวดลายเรียบๆ แบบพื้นบ้าน สไบเฉียงบ่าด้วยผ้าสีดอกโกมุท
โหรหวยทำนายว่า ผู้คน สังคม จะตกอยู่ในสภาวะฝืดเคือง อัตคัดขัดสน โจรภัยทุจริตชนจะชุกชุม บ้านเมืองทุกหย่อมหญ้าจักเร่าร้อน รุนแรง เกิดความขัดสนฝืดเคือง ยื้อแย่ง ฉกชิง
ธัญญาหารและภักษาหารจะอัตคัดขัดสน ไม่ลื่นไหล ไม่เจริญเติบโต เหมือนช่วงเวลาที่ผ่านมา

โหรหวยทำนายว่า จักมีการบาดเจ็บล้มตายของหมู่สัตว์ ครั้งละจำนวนมากๆ ไม่เว้นแม้แต่มนุษย์
– นางสงกรานต์ขี่เทพวราหะ (หมูดิน)
โหรหวยทำนายว่า นางสงกรานต์เป็นธาตุไฟ แต่มีพาหนะเป็นหมูธาตุดิน ซึ่งมีปกติชมชอบความชื้น ความเย็น

สุดท้ายปลายปีด้วยอานุภาพแห่งดอกโกมุท (ดอกบัว) ซึ่งเป็นสัญลักษณ์ของความรู้แจ้ง บริสุทธิ์ ก็จักทำให้เหตุเภทภัยทั้งหลายที่เกิดขึ้นในต้นปี กลางปีจักกลับร้ายกลายเป็นดีในปลายปีด้วยเพราะผู้คนเริ่มคิดได้ คิดเป็นว่า หากปล่อยให้ความรุนแรง เร่าร้อน ครอบงำจิตใจ โลกและสังคม ความหายนะก็จักเกิดขึ้นในไม่ช้า
เช่นนี้แม้นางสงกรานต์จักโหดเหี้ยม รุนแรง กลืนกินทุกสรรพสิ่ง ไม่เว้นแม้แต่เลือดเนื้อ แต่ก็ยังรู้จักเบื่อหน่าย ละวาง ปล่อยเว้น
แต่ไม่ว่าสถานการณ์โลกจะเร่าร้อนรุนแรง เลวร้ายขนาดไหน องค์สมเด็จพระจอมไตร ศาสดาอรหันตสัมมาสัมพุทธเจ้าทรงตรัสสอนเอาไว้ว่า
เวลาที่ท่านประพฤติชอบ ชื่อว่า ฤกษ์ดี มงคลดี สว่างดี รุ่งเรืองดี วันดีและเวลาดี
เมื่อกาย ใจ ตั้งมั่นอยู่ในความเห็นชอบ สิ่งที่ทำ พูด คิด รวมถึงวิถีชีวิตที่มีก็ต้องตั้งมั่นอยู่ในความชอบธรรม จึงจักสามารถรอดพ้นจากอุบัติภัย และภยันตรายทั้งหลายทั้งปวง
เทศกาลวันขึ้นปีใหม่ไทยหรือสงกรานต์ปีนี้ หากทุกท่านตั้งมั่นอยู่ในคุณศีล คุณธรรม คุณทาน ด้วยหลักคิดที่เห็นชอบ (สัมมาทิฐิ)
ทุกสรรพสิ่งที่เป็นองค์ประกอบของวิถีชีวิต หากทำให้มันดำเนินไปเพื่อการเรียนรู้และเข้าใจ ความสำเร็จ ความเจริญ ก็จักพึงบังเกิดมีแก่ท่านทั้งหลายอย่างแน่นอน

This year, Tuesday, April 14th, falls on the 12th waning moon of the 5th lunar month. From 10:34 AM onward, it marks Maha Songkran Day.
This year’s Songkran Goddess’s name is Rakshasadevi. She wears a lotus flower in her hair. Her garment is adorned with agate. She feeds on blood, holds a trident in her right hand and a bow in her left, and stands atop Varahavatar (boar) as her vehicle.
– The Songkran Goddess is named Rakshasadevi.
Astrologers describe Rakshasadevi as fiery and forceful, inclined toward dominance and intimidation.
As a result, this year’s Songkran Festival may be marked by struggles for power and conflict. Superiors may oppress those inferior to them. Those in authority may misuse power for personal gain. Subordinates may attempt to challenge their superiors through misguided or improper means. Division, tension, and exploitation may arise all over the world.
– The Songkran Goddess wears garments woven from lotus fibers with simple, traditional patterns. A lotus-colored sash is draped over her shoulder.
Astrologers predict that society may experience poverty, crimes, and corruption. Agricultural production and food supplies may decline and be less abundant than in previous years.
– The Songkran Goddess wears agate ornaments.
Astrologers predict that agate, being among the least expensive gemstones, symbolizes economic difficulty. The global economy may struggle from the beginning through the middle of the year. Opportunities and fortune may concentrate in the hands of those with power, influence, virtues, and generosity.
– The weapons of the Songkran Goddess are a trident and a bow.
Astrologers predict that the trident symbolizes punishment and the bow represents destruction or execution. This suggests that power may overshadow righteousness, and powerful ignorance may suppress justice. Honest individuals may feel compelled to remain silent out of fear of corrupt people.
– Flesh and blood are the main consumption of the Songkran Goddess.
Astrologers predict that this symbolizes a large number of injuries and deaths, affecting both animals and humans.
– Varahavatar (the earth boar) is the vehicle of the Songkran Goddess.
Rakshasadevi represents the fire element, while her vehicle symbolizes the earth element, which is fond of dampness and coolness. The opposition between fire and earth suggests internal tension and conflict. Subordinates may be tempted to plot rebellion and betray their superiors, so superiors must be vigilant and try to suppress and control subordinates.

Astrologers predict that, despite her violent symbolism, the lotus represents purity and enlightenment. No violent power in the world can last forever, especially one in the hands of the Rakshasa (fiend), who are known for their easily bored and fickle nature.
At the end of the year, the power of the lotus, a symbol of pure enlightenment, will transform all the calamities that occurred at the beginning and middle of the year into good fortune by the end.
People may come to realize that allowing anger and aggression to
dominate society leads only to catastrophe.
Thus, although the Songkran Goddess appears cruel and fierce, devouring everything, even blood and flesh, she ultimately becomes weary and knows how to let go.
No matter how turbulent the world becomes, the Lord Buddha taught:
“When one acts righteously, that is an auspicious time – a good omen, a bright and prosperous moment.”
“When body and mind are grounded in right understanding, one’s actions, words, thoughts, and way of life must align with righteousness. Only then can one escape calamity and danger.”
This Thai New Year or Songkran festival, if you remain steadfast in morality, virtue, and generosity, guided by right understanding (Sammā Diṭṭhi), then all aspects of life, if pursued with a focus on learning and understanding, will surely bring success and prosperity to you all.
