ลูกรัก เจ้าจักสำคัญความนี้เป็นไฉน ? (ตอนที่ ๒๒)

มหานรกขุมใหญ่สุดทั้ง ๘ ขุม เราท่านทั้งหลายได้ทำความรู้จักกันไปในเบื้องต้นแล้ว
ครานี้ลูกก็ลองมาทำความรู้จักนรกบริวารของมหาสัญชีวนรกซึ่งมีบริวารขุมที่ ๑๔ ที่ชื่อว่า อวังสิรนรก กันดูบ้าง
อวังสิรนรก หมายถึง นรกจับหัวฝังดินแค่เอว โดยมีอวัยวะเพศลอยอยู่เหนือแผ่นดิน
ภูมิลักษณะของนรกขุมนี้ก็มีสภาพเหมือนบ้านเมืองแห่งโลกียวิสัย มีผู้คนอาศัยอยู่ด้วยวิถีชีวิตผู้มักมากในกามออกเดินเร่หาความสุขสำราญด้วยการเสพติดในกาม
มีชีวิตความเป็นอยู่เหมือนกับ อุทธังปาทนรก ต่างกันตรงที่อวังสิรนรกขุมนี้ เป็นที่อยู่ของสัตว์นรกเพศชายล้วนเท่านั้น
แต่เมื่อใดสัตว์นรกเหล่านั้นได้ละเมิดในศีลข้อกาเม คือ การผิดลูกผิดเมีย ผิดผัวชาวบ้าน ก็จักปรากฎนายนิรยบาลมาลากเอาตัวไปยังสถานที่ลงทัณฑ์ ที่เต็มไปด้วยป่างิ้วหนามเหล็ก ซึ่งขึ้นเบียดเสียดกันหนาแน่น ดุจดังเครื่องหีบอ้อย หรือเครื่องบดปลาหมึกย่างฉะนั้น
อีกทั้งนายนิรยบาลเองสามารถเดินผ่านไปได้โดยไม่มีอันตราย ส่วนสัตว์นรกนั้นเล่า กลับถูกฉุดกระชากลากลุยไปภายในต้นงิ้ว มีหนามเหล็กที่มีความแหลมคม ดุจดังมีดโกน ก็เกี่ยวตัด บาดเอาหนังและเนื้อของสัตว์นรกตนนั้นให้หลุดออกมาเป็นชิ้นๆ เลือดและของเหลวภายในกายก็ไหลโทรม
สัตว์นรกนั้นได้รับความเจ็บปวดสุดแสนจะทรมาน แต่ก็ไม่ตาย จนกระทั้งนายนิรยบาลได้ฉุดลากสัตว์นั้นมาถึงที่โล่ง ลานหินที่มีหลุมลึกแค่เอวเต็มไปหมด
ต่อมานายนิรยบาลได้จักรวบขาทั้งสองข้างของสัตว์นรกตนนั้นชี้ขึ้นฟ้า แล้วนำหัวปักลงไปในหลุมหิน
หลุมหินนั้นด้วยอำนาจแห่งกรรมชั่วที่ได้กระทำไว้ในอดีต หลุมหินนั้นพลันเลื่อนเข้ามาบีบรัดร่างกายตั้งแต่หัวจรดสะดือของสัตว์นรกตนนั้นจนแน่นสนิท ดุจดังเสื้อผ้าที่กำลังนุ่งห่มอยู่ฉะนั้น โดยมีอวัยวะเพศและขาทั้งสองของสัตว์นั้นโผล่พ้นพื้นหิน ดิ้นรน ถีบอากาศอยู่ไหวไหว โดยไม่มีแม้แต่เสียงร้องใดๆ หลุดลอดออกมาจากหลุมเลย
กาลต่อมา นายนิรยบาลจึงนำเอาค้อนเหล็กที่มีไฟลุกแดงฉานที่มีหนามแหลมดุจดังหนามทุเรียนอ่อนมาทุบตี เข้าไปในอวัยวะเพศของสัตว์นรกตนนั้น
อธิบายเพิ่มเติมว่า อวังสิรนรกขุมนี้ เป็นที่ลงทัณฑกรรมของสัตว์นรกที่ เป็นชายเท่านั้น
สัตว์นรกทั้งหญิงและชายแม้จักถูกทรมานอย่างหนักแสนสาหัสเพียงนี้ ก็ยังไม่ได้ยินเสียงร้องขอชีวิต ด้วยเพราะร่างกายส่วนหัวครึ่งตัวได้จมลงไปในแผ่นหินที่บีบรัดแน่นสนิท จึงไม่มีเสียงอะไรรอดออกมาจากหลุมนั้นได้เลย
ก็ได้แต่เห็นการดิ้นรนของสัตว์นรกด้วยการเอาตีนถีบอากาศไปมาอย่างรุนแรง จนกระทั้งเจ็บปวดหมดแรงตายไป
แล้วก็ย้อนกลับไปเกิดในบ้านในเมืองที่ตนมาใช้ชีวิตดังชนผู้มักมากในกามโดยปกติ หากเมื่อใดกระทำการละเมิดศีลข้อกาเม สัตว์นรกตนนั้นก็จักถูกนายนิรยบาลจับตัวมาลงทัณฑกรรมอีกเช่นเดิม
เป็นอยู่เช่นนี้จนกว่าจักหมดกรรมชั่วผิดบาปที่ได้เคยกระทำมา
ถามว่า ทำไมการเป็นชู้ นอกใจภรรยา หรือ นอกใจสามี มันถึงได้รับโทษทัณฑ์ อันรุนแรงเช่นนี้ ทั้งที่ทั้งหญิงและชายก็สมยอมกัน
อธิบายว่า ก็เพราะการกระทำของหญิงชั่ว ชายโฉด เป็นการละเมิดต่อความรัก ความไว้วางใจของคู่ชีวิตของตน อีกทั้งยังสร้างความทุกข์ยากให้แก่ครอบครัว และสร้างปัญหาให้แก่ผู้คนในครอบครัว เรียกว่า หาความสุขบนความทุกข์ของผู้อื่น
เว้นเสียแต่ว่า คู่สามีภรรยาต่างฝ่ายต่างยินยอมที่จักให้แต่ละฝ่ายไปมีคู่นอนใหม่ เช่นนั้นก็ไม่มีใครเดือดร้อน แต่ผู้ที่กระทำการเช่นนั้นก็จักเป็นผู้เดือดร้อนเสียเอง ด้วยเพราะจักเป็นผู้มีอุปนิสัยมักมากในกามคุณ จะตกอยู่ในวังวนแห่งความลุ่มหลง มัวเมา ประมาท จนมิอาจเรียนรู้สัจจะธรรมความจริงใดๆ ได้เลย
รวมทั้งขณะมีชีวิตอยู่ ก็จักไม่เป็นที่ยอมรับของใครๆ จักติดโรคภัยไข้เจ็บต่างๆ จากการมั่วสุม ซ่องเสพ จนนำพามาซึ่งความเจ็บป่วย และเกิดปัญหาทางสุขภาพกาย สุขภาพจิต สารพัดตามมา
เช่นนี้ชื่อว่า ทำร้ายตนเองไม่รักตนเอง เห็นผิดจากทำนองคลองธรรม
สำหรับคาถาที่จักทำให้ไม่ต้องมาเกิดในนรกขุมนี้คือ
อินทรีย์สังวร มีสติสำรวม สังวรระวังตา หู จมูก ลิ้น กาย ใจ มิให้ตกเป็นทาสของสิ่งที่เห็น ที่ฟัง ที่ดม ที่รับรส และที่สัมผัสทั้งทางกายและใจ
ศีลสังวร สำรวม สังวร ระวัง ในการรักษาศีลให้ตั้งมั่น บริสุทธิ์ บริบูรณ์
หรือไม่ก็หมั่นเจริญอสุภกรรมฐานอยู่เนืองนิตย์
ด้วยการปฏิบัติในคุณธรรมดังกล่าว จักทำให้หลุดพ้นจากอวังสิรนรก นรกฝังครึ่งตัวขุมนี้ได้ในที่สุด

We have already become acquainted with the eight major hells.
Now, let us turn our attention to the fourteenth subsidiary hell of the Maha Sanjiva Hell, known as Avangsira Naraka Hell.
Avangsira Naraka is a hell in which beings are buried from the head down to the waist, while their genitals and lower bodies remain exposed above the ground. The landscape of this hell resembles a worldly town, inhabited by beings who once lived lives of excessive lust, endlessly wandering in search of pleasure and consumed by addiction to sensuality.
Their existence is like that of beings in Uddhang Pata Hell, with one important difference: Avangsira Naraka Hell is inhabited exclusively by male hell beings.
Whenever these beings violate the precept against sexual misconduct—specifically, committing adultery with another person’s spouse—the hell guardians immediately appear and drag them away to a place of punishment. This place is filled with dense thickets of thorny trees, resembling a sugarcane press or a squid grinder. The hell guardians themselves pass through unharmed, but the hell beings are dragged forcefully through the forest. The razor-sharp thorns slice and tear into their skin and flesh, causing blood and bodily fluids to pour out. The pain is excruciating, yet they do not die.
The hell warden then drags the suffering creature to an open, rocky clearing filled with pits dug to waist depth. Grasping the creature by its legs, the hell warden forces them upward and plunges the creature’s head into one of the pits. Through the power of the evil deeds committed in the past, the pit suddenly tightens around the creature’s body from head to navel, clamping down like a garment of stone. The genitals and legs protrude from the rock as the creature struggles helplessly, kicking violently in the air, unable to utter even a single cry.
Finally, the hell warden takes a blazing red iron hammer, studded with thorns as sharp as durian spines, and repeatedly smashes the creature, striking directly into its genitals.
To clarify further, Avangsira Naraka is a hell where only male hell beings are punished in this manner. Although both male and female hell beings in various hells experience such unbearable torment, their cries for help are never heard, because their heads and upper bodies are sealed tightly within slabs of rock, preventing any sound from escaping. All that can be seen is their frantic struggle, their legs kicking wildly in the air until they are finally exhausted by pain and die.
After death, they are reborn once again in the city where they previously lived as ordinary, lust-driven people. If they again violate the precept against adultery, they are seized by the hell guardians and subjected to the same punishment. This cycle continues until all the evil deeds and unwholesome karma they have accumulated are completely exhausted.
One may ask why adultery—cheating on one’s spouse—receives such severe punishment, even when both parties consent. The explanation is that the actions of a depraved man and a wicked woman betray the love and trust of their life partners, inflict suffering upon families, and cause harm to others. This is known as seeking pleasure in the suffering of others.
If, however, both husband and wife mutually agree to allow other partners, then no one is directly harmed. Even so, those who indulge in such behavior still harm themselves, because they develop habits of excessive lust and fall into a cycle of infatuation, intoxication, and recklessness. As a result, they become incapable of understanding truth.
Moreover, in their human lives, such individuals may be rejected by others, contract diseases through promiscuous associations, and suffer from numerous physical and mental health problems. This is called self-harm—failing to love oneself and perceiving things contrary to righteousness.
The practices that prevent rebirth in Avangsira Naraka Hell are as follows:
Sensory restraint: Be mindful and vigilant, guarding the eyes, ears, nose, tongue, body, and mind so they do not become slaves to sights, sounds, smells, tastes, and touches, both physical and mental.
Moral restraint: Be mindful and diligent in maintaining the precepts firmly, purely, and completely.
Alternatively, one may habitually practice meditation which contemplates on corpses at different stages of decay.
By cultivating these virtues, one will ultimately be freed from Avangsira Naraka—the hell where beings are buried halfway.
